- Rises 300 meters above sea level
- Walk up or take the funicular railway
- Stunning views, especially on clear days!
A walk to the top of Mount Lycabettus is one of the best ways to spend a morning or a late afternoon in Athens. Along with the great views (all the way to Peloponnese on a clear day!), you’ll find the small church of St. George at the summit of the limestone hill. If you don’t have the energy to walk, take the funicular railway, which you can catch at the top of Ploutarchou street in Kolonaki. It costs two euros each way.
COVID-19 safety measures, hours, and updates
When you travel with Journy, your personal trip designer will provide up-to-date information on specific COVID-19 policies and considerations.
It’s best to take a taxi to Aristippou St in Kolonaki. From there, you can decide whether to walk or take the funicular railway, which leaves from the corner of Aristippou and Ploutarhiou about every 30 minutes.

Zach & Samantha's Japan Honeymoon
I found Journy after already getting an itinerary from a typical travel agency. Simply put, Journy’s recommendations blew theirs out of the water…plus, the process is super smooth and easy!
