Stroll through Parque das Nações

About
Parque das Nações is the avant-garde architectural contrast to Lisbon’s old historic center. Before it was chosen as the site for the final World Exposition in 1998, this part of Eastern Lisbon was an industrial wasteland. Since then, however, it remains a veritable playground of awe inspiring modern structures, all of which reflect maritime themes (the design of Oriente Train Station evokes a thousand billowing white sails).

Cod-lovers lunch at D 'Bacalhau

About
D’Bacalhau near the Park of Nations is a waterfront restaurant specializing in seafood specifically cod dishes. Try the Azeitão sheep’s milk cheese to start—the cheese comes from a town of the same name just 40 minutes south of Lisbon and while pungent, it is delicious. It’s nearly impossible to determine which cod preparation you’ll like best, so try a sampler, which allows you to try smaller portions of favorites like Cod to Gomes Sá or the cod cooked in cream. The service here is also fantastic, so you’re sure to have a memorable meal.

Avant garde upscale dining at Mini Bar Teatro

About
Inspired by the modern cuisine at Michelin-starred Tickets in Barcelona, Mini Bar serves innovative and playful small plates in a casual atmosphere. The prolific chef, Jose Alvillez, is one of Lisbon's greatest success stories. Despite being only 35 he has, according to the NYTimes, "probably done more than anyone to nudge his country’s cooking into the 21st century, spurred by the food revolution across the border in Spain."

Order dishes a la carte or go for the recommended "Epic" tasting menu which is a steal at 48.50 euros. You'll receive a succession of twelve small plates, such as tempura-fried avocado spears with cilantro and kimchi or cured mackerel slices under a smoke-filled glass dome.
